How to choose your Plastic Surgeon

What factors are important in choosing your plastic surgeon?

Did you feel comfortable with the surgeon, did you find him or her caring and considerate.  Did he/she consider your thoughts and concerns and take time to listen? Do you feel that the surgeon is a person who is honest and trustworthy?

If so you are off to a good start.  Among other things to consider are:

DrKevinBoundsIs your surgeon board certified in plastic surgery?

Does your surgeon hold membership in the American Society for Plastic Surgeons and in particular the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons?

Does she or he have privileges in a hospital to perform the surgery he is performing for you in an outpatient center? And is that center certified, one such certification being AAAASF.

Does the surgeon perform the procedure you are considering regularly and are there before and after photos of patients who have had this procedure?

Does the staff seem helpful and positive; the office culture is determined by the physician.

You’ve done your research, found your surgeon so now you are ready to schedule your procedure!

Plastic Surgery of Virginia Beach Re-Accreditation

Congratulations to Dr. Bounds and his staff for the Recent Re-Accreditation of their Operating Suite by the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAAASF).

surgeryThe American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities, Inc. was established in 1980 to develop an accreditation program to standardize and improve the quality of medical and surgical care in ambulatory surgery facilities while assuring the public of high standards for patient care and safety in an accredited facility.

Today more than 2000 ambulatory surgery facilities are accredited by AAAASF, the largest not-for-profit accrediting organization in the United States. Many more facilities are in process for accreditation. These numbers have increased dramatically over the last two years. Surgeons, legislators, state and national health agencies and patients acknowledge that AAAASF stands alone as the program setting the “Gold Standard” for quality patient care.
The vast majority of ambulatory surgery facilities are still unaccredited, operating independent of any peer review and inspection process. A growing number of states and specialty societies, however, are recognizing the need for mandatory accreditation. AAAASF has been and continues to be in the forefront of these legislative efforts.

Whether it’s Body, Breast or Facial Procedures, Plastic Surgery of Virginia Beach makes your safety our priority!
