Botox for Excessive Sweating: Don’t Sweat It this Summer!

Summer is the time for fun in the sun and with that comes summer heat and some degree of perspiration.  However some of us find we sweat more than others. Are you one of those people who put on that the cute little summer dress only to have it ringed with perspiration in five minutes? Are you constantly choosing your clothing so that your sweat isn’t as obvious? Do you start to make a work presentation and find you appear nervous with wet spots under your arms?  Do you find you have many attractive outfits ruined by excessive Perspiration? We can help you!

Excess sweating can be a medical condition known as hyperhidrosis wherein the person sweats more than is needed to regulate body temperature. Sources say over seven million American suffer from hyperhidrosis. Those who suffer with hyperhidrosis can sweat in everyday situations, without a high body temperature or highly charged emotional situation. Leaving them constantly concerned with hiding the degree to which they perspire and how it effect their clothes and their appearance to others.

There is a way to minimize your sweat …. Botox!

Botox is an FDA-approved treatment for excessive armpit sweating. Injections under your arms can reduce the amount you sweat by blocking the nerves from reaching your sweat glands, decreasing the reaction between the two.

Botox Treatment for hyperhidrosis is a simple, non-surgical procedure performed in the office at Plastic Surgery of Virginia Beach. The treatment is performed by Dr. Bounds himself and does not require anesthesia. During the procedure Dr. Bounds will inject small amounts of Botox underneath the skin to limit perspiration.

There is no aftercare required following Botox for the treatment of hyperhidrosis, though some patients may experience minor bruising at the injection site. Recovery is minimal and patients are able to immediately return to work and most other activities. Results may last up to six months or longer.
